In 2018 and I was working on a development about a queer wedding dress shop at Shine TV which unfortunately didn’t get commissioned but I didn’t want to stop filming with Robert, a fashion designer who specialises in designing dresses for men who I had found for the development. I spent the next 5 years filming him ad hoc with Carla Grande. Between us we had 2 cameras, a car and some positive energy. We didn’t apply for funding, it was difficult to define what the idea was and I felt that feeling our way into what the film was or could be was the only way to do it. So in between jobs we filmed and developed it in a joyously free way.
This year the film ‘Robert and Georgie’ had its world premiere at Gaze International LGBTQIA Film Festival, UK premier at Folkestone Documentary Film Festival, won the UK Fashion Film Festival documentary section and on 22nd January is playing at the Curzon cinema as part of London Short Film Festival 10 years after Women on Tap played there.

This beautifully crafted film, shot over five years in Kent, captures the unique bond between a mother and son. As Georgie embarks on his journey as both an artist and a trans woman, the documentary presents an otherworldly and poignant portrait of love, creativity, and self-discovery.
